2. Hosting and server log files
When you visit our website, our web server automatically records technical access data in log files: IP address, date and time of the request, requested URL, HTTP status code, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and version and operating system. This data is processed to deliver the website, to ensure its stability and security and to detect and defend against attacks.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and error-free operation of the website). Log files are deleted after 14 days unless they are needed as evidence of a security incident.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device.
- Strictly necessary cookies are required to operate the shop, for example to keep the contents of your shopping cart, to remember your consent choice and to keep you logged in to your customer account. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR and § 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG.
- Analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you have given your consent in our cookie banner. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by changing your settings in the cookie banner or by deleting the cookies in your browser.
When you first visit our site you can accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies or customise your choice. Declining non-essential cookies does not restrict your use of the shop.
4. Contact by email or contact form
If you contact us, we process the data you provide (name, email address, telephone number if given, and your message) to handle your enquiry and for follow-up questions. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in answering enquiries). We delete your enquiry once it has been dealt with and no statutory retention duties apply, generally after 12 months.
5. Orders and customer account
To process your order we process your name, billing and delivery address, email address, telephone number, the items ordered, payment information and the order history. If you create a customer account, we also store your login data and your saved addresses.
Purposes: performing the purchase contract, delivery, payment processing, customer service, handling of returns and warranty claims, invoicing and compliance with accounting duties.
Legal bases: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (contract performance) and Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR (statutory obligations, in particular under commercial and tax law). Providing the data is required to conclude the contract; without it we cannot process your order.
6. Payment service providers
We offer payment by card via Stripe and by PayPal. Payment data is entered directly with the payment provider; we do not store complete card numbers.
- Stripe: Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland. Stripe receives the data required to process the payment (e.g. name, email, billing address, amount, payment method data) and acts as an independent controller for fraud prevention and its legal obligations. Privacy information: stripe.com/privacy.
- PayPal: PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg. PayPal receives the data required to process the payment. Privacy information: paypal.com/privacy.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of the contract). Where payment providers process data in third countries such as the USA, the transfer is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on EU standard contractual clauses.
7. Shipping
For delivery we pass your name, delivery address and, where needed for delivery notifications, your email address or telephone number to the transport company commissioned by us (for example DHL, DPD or UPS). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
8. Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address to send you information about products and offers. We use the double opt-in procedure: you receive a confirmation email and are only added to the mailing list once you have confirmed. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every newsletter or by email to us.
9. Product reviews
If you write a product review, we publish your review text, rating and the name you provide. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (interest in helpful product information for other customers).
10. Recipients of your data
Within our company only those employees receive your data who need it to perform their duties. Externally, data is passed on to payment providers, shipping companies, IT service providers and hosting providers who process data on our behalf on the basis of data processing agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR, as well as to our tax advisor and, where required by law, to authorities.
11. Retention periods
We delete or anonymise your personal data as soon as it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected. Data relating to orders is retained until the end of statutory retention periods: 6 years for commercial correspondence (§ 257 HGB) and 10 years for accounting records and invoices (§ 147 AO, § 257 HGB). Customer accounts are deleted upon request unless retention duties prevent this; in that case the data is restricted.
12. Your rights
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- right of access (Art. 15 GDPR),
- right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
- right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),

- right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR).
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR), you may object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. Where we process your data for direct marketing, you have the right to object at any time without giving reasons.
To exercise your rights, please write to support@clearedgesafety.com.
13. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is: Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestraße 2-4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany, www.ldi.nrw.de.
14. Automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
15. Data security

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in showing you how to find us). Privacy information: osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
17. Changes to this privacy policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy so that it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services. The current version published on this website applies.
Website translation (GTranslate / Google Translate)
You can view this website in German by choosing the flag in the header. The translation is provided by the GTranslate widget, which uses Google Translate. The widget is only loaded after you select a language (or if you selected it on an earlier visit). When it loads, your IP address and the page content to be translated are transmitted to GTranslate and to Google. We store your language choice in your browser (local storage and the googtrans cookie) so that the page stays in the language you chose. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your choice of the language) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (a usable multilingual website). Machine translations may contain errors, and the English version is authoritative.
