Description
The Atlas Ultra AT48-APS is a large-format pneumatic heat press with a 39.4 x 47.2 in (about 100 x 120 cm) upper platen and an automatic reciprocating dual-station tray system. It is suited to heat-transfer application of reflective film and prints on full garment panels and technical textiles. Dual pneumatic cylinders deliver even pressure and digital controls set time and temperature in manual or automatic mode. While one tray is pressed the second can be loaded, which keeps throughput high.

After running reflective tape onto polyester fabric for several months I can say the ultrasonic welding unit has been very consistent. Seams are sealed without a needle hole, which matters for our waterproof jackets, and the weld strength holds up in our pull tests. Setup for a new garment takes about twenty minutes now.

Energy use is lower than our old thermal oil setup, which our finance team confirmed after checking a few months of bills. I give four stars because the touch screen recipes were awkward to copy between products, but that is a small complaint.

Lamination quality is excellent. Changeover between adhesive rolls is somewhat slow because of the cleaning step, so we schedule longer runs per material. Support has been helpful whenever we called, usually with an answer within the day.

Smooth start up. Fabric threading is logical and takes two operators about ten minutes. We had no jams in the first month.

Solid roll handling, and the unwind brake keeps tension steady on delicate membranes. Delivery was on time. I wish the operator manual had more photographs, but the support team filled the gaps quickly.

Good results once tuned, but tuning took us longer than the sales pitch suggested, roughly two weeks of test rolls and adhesive changes. Support stayed patient throughout. Just be ready to use a lot of material during commissioning.

The commissioning engineer stayed four days and tuned the nip pressure and line speed with our own materials. We started paid production on the fifth day.
