Description
The Zünd S3 is a compact, modular digital flatbed cutting table for single-ply cutting of technical textiles, hi-vis fabrics and protective clothing panels. Its smart drive technology and intelligent control software deliver fast, precise cutting, while the modular tool and module system lets the machine be changed, expanded and upgraded as production needs change. Tool management is efficient and the ergonomic operator concept keeps handling simple. Six cutter sizes are offered, from the M size with a 1330 mm width and 830, 1230 or 1630 mm lengths up to larger formats.

Six months in, our fabric utilization is better and the operators like the vacuum hold down. Cutting curves on collar pieces are smooth with no lifting at the corners. I also noted that the supplier answered my pre sale questions about power supply, compressed air and floor loading before I asked our electrician, which saved us a site visit. We cut and sew children's hi-vis vests, small pieces with tight tolerances. The template sewing unit copes very well and the seams look neat. We were unable to reach the vendor by phone when our marker file would not open, but their email response arrived within the hour and a remote session followed the next morning. That was reasonable for us, and since then we have kept our marker files in the format they suggested and had no repeats.

We use the sewing unit for reflective tape attachment on coveralls. Stitch tension stays stable through long runs, and rework has dropped noticeably compared with the older flatbed machines we replaced.

The cutting table has run two shifts since spring and the edges come off clean enough that our sewers stopped trimming frayed threads. Nesting on the reflective panels saves us a visible amount of fabric each week. We also like that the offcuts are small and predictable, so our warehouse team can sort them into reusable bins. The only adjustment we made was to slow the head slightly over the tape seams. Overall a dependable purchase for a plant our size that cuts mostly hi-vis vests and jackets. Freight to our plant in Lagos was planned with a named forwarder, and we always knew where the shipment was.
